OnePlus, just a few days ago, launched two high-end smartphones, namely 8 and 8 Pro. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal memory, they are some of the most interesting products currently available. There have also been repeated talks of a version with a lower cost (called 8 Lite or X).
Although this product may not be in line with OnePlus’ recent plans, and there is no relevant content at the press conference, but according to the current tripartite news, this phone may really exist.
According to leaks, in order to compensate for the reduced demand for flagship models, which decreased due to the high cost, the company will introduce several budget smartphones this year. However, third-party manufacturers under the ODM contract will be engaged in their development.
This is a fairly common practice among manufacturers of consumer devices. According to sources, OnePlus plans to introduce several such models, among which there will be both 4G and 5G smartphones. With OnePlus, they will only be associated with the company logo on the case.
The services of ODM-manufacturers quite often use such eminent brands as Huawei and Xiaomi, and sometimes even Samsung. OnePlus has not officially confirmed the rumors, however, it is likely that the expected “budget flagship” OnePlus 8 Lite will be produced specifically for ODM-order. The model is expected to get its power from the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L or Snapdragon 765G processor.
