A week remains before the premiere of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, but today all the characteristics of a pair of flagship smartphones have become known. Through the efforts of WinFuture, which had previously merged the quality renderings of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. We found out key data on the display, cameras and other important technical aspects. The complete specifications can be found below, which has been compiled at WinFuture.
Bigger and Better display
The touch panel of OnePlus 8 Pro will be 6.78 inches with Fluid AMOLED technology with a QHD resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels. The Chinese giant has focused on the presence of the 120 Hz refresh rate which will be scaled to “only” 90 Hz for the 6.55-inch panel with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution of OnePlus 8.
Both panels will offer support for the HDR10 + as well as a color calibration that is expected to be of the highest level. OnePlus 8 Pro will be able to rely on MEMC technology, all to bring high levels of refresh rate even for video content recorded at 20-24 fps. Also interesting are the maximum brightness values that should touch 1300 nits.
Sony 48MP sensors
This year OnePlus also wants to make a good impression in photographic sector. So, for the first time, the company will use the Sony IMX689 sensor with an f / 1.78 aperture and 1.12 µm pixels.
Next to it there will be another Sony sensor, in this case, 48MP IMX586 which will act as a wide-angle lens with a 120° viewing angle. A 16MP telescopic sensor with f / 2.4 aperture with 30x digital zoom is also expected. There should be the possibility of recording videos at very high resolution, certainly 4K. But even today there is no certain information from this point of view. The presence of three microphones on OnePlus 8 Pro should also ensure better recording of spatial audio during video recording, in order to correctly balance the recorded audio in every direction.
Instead, as regards OnePlus 8
Its camera system has been slightly revisited. The sensor Sony IMX586 led by 48MP has an opening f / 1.75. While the video side we expect the ability to record in 4K resolution movies. The resolution of the wide-angle lens also changes, changing to “only” 16 MP with a viewing angle of 116 degrees. Unlike OnePlus 8 Pro, here we find a 2MP macro lens with 1.75 µm pixels.
We shouldn’t expect any differences in the punch hole front camera. This should be based on the Sony IMX471 sensor, i.e. the same present on the OnePlus 7 range. The sensor has a resolution of 16MP with aperture f / 2.0 on OnePlus 8 and f / 2.4 on OnePlus 8 Pro. The lens should be able to record videos in 1080p resolution at 30 fps.
Snapdragon 865 and 5G
One of the strengths of the OnePlus 8 family will certainly be the SoC, once again offered by Qualcomm. The smartphones will both be based on Snapdragon 865 which, thanks to the X55 modem, will guarantee both 5G connectivity. From the RAM point of view we find important differences between OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro; the latter can rely on LPDDR5 RAM , while the “non Pro” model will have to settle for the good but not so fast LPDDR4X RAM. On the other hand, there will be no differences for internal storage. Where both models will be based on UFS 3.0 standards with 128 or 256GB denominations.
Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX codec and fingerprint sensor under the display are obviously expected. While the audio should be of the highest level thanks to support for Dolby Atmos.
Large capacity battery
OnePlus 8 Pro should rely on a 4510mAh module, while OnePlus 8 on a 4300mAh module. Both will be able to take advantage of the 30W charging technology Warp Charge. It would guarantee 50% of battery in 22 minutes for OnePlus 8. While it will take only 1 minute more to reach the same level on OnePlus 8 Pro.
As for the wireless charging dock seen a few hours ago, it should be emphasized that support for wireless charging should only be guaranteed for the Pro model. Where the younger brother will have to settle for the classic charging via the cable. As we have seen, the wireless charging dock features an aluminum frame with a rear fan.
Android 10 with OxygenOS
Android 10 will remain the pulsed heart of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. Where OxygenOS will bring some interesting improvements to which all OnePlus users have long been used to. The company should unveil what is referred to as “Dark Mode 2.0”. Where many third-party apps will also be able to support it.
OnePlus 8 is expected in the Onyx Black, Glacial Green and Interstellar Glow colors ; OnePlus 8 Pro will instead be able to count on the same color variations with the addition of the exclusive Ultramarine Blue color. The IP68 certification should be granted only for the pro model.
In addition to the Oneplus 8 and 8 Pro, The company will separately sell Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger – a docking station for charging wirelessly at a peak power of 30 watts. With this intensity, increased heating of the accessory will be solved with the help of the built-in fan.
