OnePlus smartphones are never highlighted for their water and dust resistance due to the associated costs. However, things can finally change in the OnePlus 8 range. An official IP rating may be on the way, at least for the OnePlus 8 Pro.
In a cryptic Tweet published at the weekend, the leaskter Max J. lifted the veil over the official water and dust resistance, IP68, in the next OnePlus 8 range. It is not known whether OnePlus intends to support OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro or whether the new functionality will be limited to the Pro variant. However, what seems certain is that it will arrive.
Whatever the case, the change will undoubtedly be praised by fans. As there is no official classification so far, users were not sure what they could count on.
The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are expected to come with 6.5 and 6.65-inch Fluid AMOLED displays, respectively. But unlike predecessors, which support 90Hz refresh rates, OnePlus is reportedly going to integrate the recently announced 120Hz panels into both smartphones.
Thus, it will have a hole in the screen and minimal frames around the screen. As for the rear of the smartphones, it looks like the OnePlus 8 will feature a vertical camera configuration instead of a circular module. It houses three individual sensors. This is the main camera, another wide-angle and telephoto with 3x zoom.
The OnePlus 8 Pro, on the other hand, must incorporate updated cameras and a ToF sensor to be able to compete with the Galaxy S20 + and other tops. Bringing the OnePlus 8 Series to life will undoubtedly have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865.
By default, OnePlus will provide an 8 / 128GB storage option for both smartphones, although more expensive configurations up to 12 / 512GB may be available at launch with Android 10 and wireless charging is also expected.
