In mid-February Samsung, its new range of high-end phones, accompanied by new renewed wireless headphones. In the latter, we must stop since without a doubt we are facing the direct competitor of the Apple AirPods. And a foreign media have already got Galaxy Buds+ and compare it with Apple’s AirPods.
In the term of the design, the Galaxy Buds+ looks almost the same as the previous model of the Galaxy Bud, but with the addition of a microphone, the surface of the charging box is shinier and no longer matte, the size, comfort, etc are unchanged. In short’ the overall appearance of the Galaxy Buds + is almost the same as the previous model.
Galaxy Buds + is closer to AirPods Pro in appearance, its soft silicone plug can be embedded in the ear canal to provide a tighter seal, but there is no active noise reduction function.
The design of the rubber plug is similar to AirPods Pro. The main selling point of the Galaxy Buds+ is to improve the sound quality and battery life. Now its battery life can reach 11 hours, and the sound quality seems to have improved.
Although it is closer to AirPods Pro in design, the price and features of Galaxy Buds + are closer to the second-generation AirPods. For example, it costs $149, which is $10 cheaper than the second-generation AirPods (without wireless charging version) and $100 cheaper than the AirPods Pro.
Touch features are available on every Galaxy Buds+, which can be used to play/pause, switch songs and activate voice assistants. However, these functions have platform restrictions. When the Galaxy Buds+ is connected to the iPhone, these are the only three functions. However, if you connect to an Android device, long-press the touch button to start Spotify music.
Samsung also provides tools for controlling ambient sound levels (though we don’t think this feature is useful), as well as adjusting sound profiles. There are preset options to increase bass or treble, and there is an option to make the audio more dynamic or soft. Although these are not really equalizers, they have more features than AirPods, which has nothing.
With Android phones, Galaxy Buds + can also read notifications, this feature is not available when paired with the iPhone. AirPods offers a similar feature in iOS 13 that allows Siri to read messages.
Galaxy Buds+ can also connect multiple devices at the same time, such as TV and Android phones, whichever sounds, but when connected with iPhone, this feature is still not available.
Overall, Galaxy Buds+ has the biggest improved sound effect from the previous model. It sounds better than AirPods, but many users may not hear much difference. Compared with AirPods Pro, the sound quality of the latter is very different, but considering that the Galaxy Buds + is $100 cheaper and it is not an active noise canceling headset, it is not fair.
As for buying advice, it actually has a lot to do with what phone you are currently using. AirPods is still the first choice for those who want to equip the iPhone with headphones. If you want to equip Android phones with headphones, so you need to consider Samsung Galaxy Buds +.
