Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), is a popular first-person tactical shooting game released in August 2012. It is the fourth game of the Counter-Strike series developed by the teams of Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment.
The game comes with multiple advancements from its predecessor, and the most notable difference is its improved engine. Other improvements come in the form of a completely revamped UI, most weapons got a balance update, a user-friendly buy menu, and an advanced tutorial.
Also, the movement in CS 1.6 was more precise, that’s because the values are entirely different in CS: GO but let’s not forget that this article is not about comparing the two.
Those who do not know about the game much, it’s a game with a simple concept, i.e. battle between two teams. These two teams are terrorists (Ts) and counter-terrorists (CTs). CTs have to defend a bomb site, and Ts have to attack one. The one that succeeds in their mission wins the round. Also, if one team manages to eliminate all the members of the opposition, they win the round. Simple enough, right?
Players were not able to make a smooth transition from CS 1.6 to CS: GO and it was criticised as players were not very comfortable with the new gameplay. But after a lot of updates in the gameplay and maps, players are now settled with CS: GO (which is now mainstream).
Although this was not the only point for which Valve was criticised for. It’s regularly criticised for lower price money (capped at $250,000) for CS:GO than their other game, Dota 2. It was in 2016 when CS: GO witnessed its first $1 million tournament. Since then, things have been on the positive side and players have grown their income quite a lot.
