Following the success of Mi Band 4, which sold one million units in 8 days, Xiaomi is already developing the next generation fitness bracelet. The information was confirmed by an executive of his own company late last year.
TizenHelp has now posted some interesting details about Mi Band 5. According to sources working at Xiaomi, the new bracelet will be released with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display, slightly larger than the 0.95 of the current Mi Band 4. Another important point is that this increase in screen size should not change the weight of the bracelet. Xiaomi’s intention is to give the user more room to view their notifications without changing the bracelet’s ergonomics.
Rumors also indicate that Xiaomi will finally release the global Mi Band 5 with NFC support. As we know, the Chinese giant has always limited its use of China’s domestic market. This is because the company offers its own payment service in the country.
As the feature expands to the global market, Xiaomi must partner to offer integrated Google Pay and trade agreements with other companies. For now, the manufacturer or Huami – responsible for the production of the bracelet – did not comment on the matter.
Therefore, we should still consider information as just another market rumor. So far, Mi Band 5 is expected to launch in the second quarter, while its starting price could be 179 yuan (about US$25.75).
