The Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G is one of the new processors of the US manufacturer that probably next year will have greater diffusion among medium-high end smartphones, as it also supports 5G connectivity. Brands like Xiaomi, OPPO and Realme have already announced that they will launch devices equipped with this CPU and, according to the Geekbench database, Sony also seems to have decided to focus on this processor.
A new smartphone from the Japanese manufacturer, in fact, has been identified on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing some of the specifications it can boast, starting from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip.
Among the other features of the new Sony phone, whose code name is K8220, we find 8GB of RAM and Android 10, which confirms that it should be a medium-high end model. As for the results recorded on Geekbench 5.0.3 by the Sony K8220, the device achieved 465 points in the single-core test and 1757 points in the multi-core test.
It will be interesting to find out if for such a device the manufacturer will bet on a competitive price or if, on the contrary, we will be faced with a rather expensive model compared to those of the competition that will have the same CPU.
It is possible that Sony is announcing a new product in the first quarter of the coming year. The presentation may take place at the MWC 2020 Mobile Industry Exhibition, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from February 24 to 27. According to IDC estimates, in the third quarter of 2019, 358.3 million smartphones were sold. This is 0.8% more compared to the third quarter of 2018 when deliveries amounted to 355.6 million units.
