Huawei decided to release a mechanical keyboard emulator, which until now was only present on Mate 30 Pro. It will be available for up to 8 other smartphone models from the P and Mate series. How does this unusual function work?
This mechanical keyboard emulator was created in cooperation with Huawei with Cherry – a German company producing keyboards and Baidu – the most popular Chinese Internet search engine. The emulator reflects the pressure on the mechanic ‘s three-pin Cherry switch.
The keyboard is designed to appear mechanical. Hence, the effect should be confusingly similar to using an actual mechanic – of course, as far as possible on the touch screen. How did Huawei deal with this task?
Thanks to the linear motors that the Mate 30 Pro is equipped with, the response time is definitely shorter. They also guarantee a faster start & stop when pressing the key. The whole works on EMUI 10 and a special keyboard application whose appearance is presented in the GIF above.
For people living in China, the way to install the keyboard is very simple – all you need to do in the store application from Huawei, AppGallery, enter the phrase Baidu input method Huawei and then download the searched item.
The Huawei’s smartphones on which the emulator will work are Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, Mate 30 4G / 5G, Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X 4G / 5G and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. Each of the devices listed above is equipped with the components mentioned above that enable the application to work. On other phones, even if you get the application unofficially, it will not be able to function properly.
