It was a bit strange. As a three-digit successor to a midrange processor called the Exynos 980, the Exynos 990, which Samsung officially unveiled at Tech Day last week, would suddenly become the successor to the Exynos 9825, which serves in the Galaxy Note 10 smartphones in Europe? This was written by many tech observers, but there were no official statements from Samsung.
Max Weinbach from the XDA Developers team now wants to have received evidence that this assumption is a fallacy. Also in 2020, there will probably be an Exynos 9830, at least the Exynos 990 will not occupy the top position in Samsung’s Exynos family and thus probably not be found in the Galaxy S11.
As Max has further explained (see Tweet above), there are some specific clues in the code of One UI 2.0 that explicitly point to the existence of the Exynos 9830 from Samsung (and the Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm), so it seems 2020 in terms of things Galaxy S11 to stay the same.
Samsung should, therefore, introduce another Exynos chip in the coming weeks. The Exynos 9820 was introduced on November 14, 2018, so it will probably not be long before we get the details. But I do not think he will be so much better than the Exynos 990.
In addition to discovering that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will be equipped with the Exynos 9830/Snapdragon 865 processor, Max Weinbach also unexpectedly discovered three US versions of the Galaxy S11 models, namely the SM-G981U, SM-G986U, and SM-G988U, which both support 5G networks. According to previous information, it is expected that the Snapdragon 865 will support LPDDR5 memory.
