The new entry-level smartphones of Redmi were made official in China today. Although economical, the Redmi 8 comes with some interesting features, such as a large-screen non-forgotten display, large 18W fast-charging battery, and good quality cameras. In addition, we have a price of around $99.
These devices have polycarbonate bodies of identical design. Also noteworthy is the nano P2i coating for splash resistance. Both the Redmi 8 and 8A have 6.22 inch IPS LCD screens and have a 19: 9 aspect ratio. Also noteworthy is the HD + resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The screens of both smartphones are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 glass. The dimensions are 156.5 x 75.4 x 9.4 mm and weigh 188 grams.
At the performance level, the modest Snapdragon 439 chipset that powered the Redmi 7A is also inside the Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 smartphones. Perhaps one of the most interesting points is the 5000mAh battery.
However, these devices support fast 18W charging via a USB-C port. The charger that comes in the box supports 10W. So, 18W fast charger is required to be purchased separately.
The rear panel of the 8A has a single camera. So the sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX363 which is also available on some of the older smartphones like the Xiaomi Poco F1, Google Pixel 3 and Vivo iQOO. However, the Redmi 8 has a dual-camera system at the rear. Thus, the Sony IMX363 12MP main sensor joins another 2MP depth sensor. At the selfie level, the Redmi 8 range is equipped with an 8MP camera backed by artificial intelligence.
However, the Redmi 8 has a fingerprint reader below the dual-camera system. However, this functionality is not available on the other model.
Other features found in these devices include an infrared port, wireless FM radio, dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and 3.5mm audio output.
Both devices are scheduled to go on sale in China beginning from Tomorow October 15 at 10:00 AM (local time). The Redmi 8 starts at 799 yuan ($113) which nets you the 3GB RAM version, while the 4GB+128GB version goes for .899 yuan ($127). The more pricy Redmi 8 is available in China in Fairy Green, Sapphire Blue, and Carbon Ash Black color options.
You can get the Redmi 8A in Dark Blue, Coral Orange, and Midnight Black color options at an introductory price of 699 yuan ($99) for the base variant with 3GB RAM, and 799 yuan ($113) for the 4GB version. As an introductory offer, the brand has slashed the Redmi 8A 4GB RAM variant by 100 yuan ($14), though for a limited time.
