The Korean branch of LG announced the premiere of the V50S ThinQ model, which is the local equivalent of LG G8X ThinQ, enriched with 5G network support. Actually, apart from the 5G modem, there are no special technical differences between the mentioned devices.
The key feature of this device, recall, is the presence of a special case Dual Screen with two additional displays. The main cover screen and the screen of the smartphone itself have the same characteristics: 6.4 inches, 2340 × 1080 pixels, and a small cutout.
The auxiliary external display on the case received a size of 2.1 inches Mono Cover Display that lets users check the time, date, battery charge, notifications, and other useful information without opening the Dual Screen.
The new Dual Screen adopts a new 360 Freestop Hinge to allow for viewing at any angle (0, 104° and 180°), just like a laptop. It can connect to the phone via USB instead of Pogo Pins in the previous generation.
The V50S ThinQ is powered by Snapdragon 855 which operates in tandem with the Qualcomm 5G modem. The amount of RAM is 8GB, the capacity of a flash drive is 256GB (versus 6GB and 128GB from the progenitor).
For the camera section, It has dual rear cameras, 13MP 136-degree super-wide-angle, and 12MP standard sensor. There is also a 32MP camera that merges four pixels to form large 1.6μm pixels for better output.
The LG V50S ThinQ features an on-screen fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5 LE adapters, a GPS receiver, etc. The power is supplied by a 4000mAh battery with support for fast 21-watt recharging and runs Android Pie with an improved user interface. The device costs about $1000 complete with the mentioned Dual Screen Case.
