Soon after the release of Android 10 and the publication of source codes in the open-source Android Open Source Project (AOSP) project, unofficial firmware began to appear for those who do not have enough patience to wait for an update from the manufacturer.
Similar firmware appeared for Xiaomi smartphones, such as Mi 6, Mi 8, Poco F1 and Redmi Note 5 Plus. Now an unofficial opportunity to install Android 10 has become available for users of Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2S models.
The official version of Android 10 is currently available for Pixel, Essential Phone, Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones. Unofficial firmware is fraught with various errors and shortcomings. The Xiaomi Mi A2 model, for example, received only the alpha version of LineageOS 17.
This is the earliest version available to users, without any special differences from the AOSP version. Also, an early build of LineageOS 17 on Android 10 i is available for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. In fact, we are talking about a “clean” version of AOSP without additional add-ons.
Of the known problems, there is a lack of alerts in the message application, alarm clocks fail in the clock. However, to replace the “native” applications, you can install alternatives from the Google Play Store. For Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, you can try Pixel3 ROM on Android 10. There are no known problems here yet, but any unofficial firmware is fraught with errors in work and should be installed only at your own risk.
