Sony Xperia 2 is expected to be launched at IFA 2019 which takes place from September 6 and today, many sharp render images of this smartphone have appeared.
According to the renderings, the Xperia 2 will not change dramatically compared to the Xperia 1. The most cherished innovations are the changed arrangement of the triple camera unit on the rear panel (now in the upper left corner, and not in the center) and the new body color – in addition to the classic Sony and black and blue, red appears. The materials will remain the same, that is, glass front and back and a metal frame.
On the left side of the Xperia 2 is a SIM card slot, on the right is a fingerprint scanner located between the volume keys and the power key. Still lower is the camera shutter button, a longtime exclusive Sony function.
At the bottom of the smartphone, there is a USB Type-C connector, speaker grille, and microphone. There is no classic 3.5mm headphone jack.
What is interesting is the technical characteristics of the Xperia 2 – for some reason, the flagship will be partially cut. The downgrade concerns the most important thing: Sony will reduce the diagonal of the screen from 6.5 inches to 6.1 inches while maintaining a cinematic aspect ratio of 21: 9 and reduce the resolution from 3840×1644 pixels (4K) to 2520×1080 pixels (Full HD +). Perhaps a less energy-consuming screen will be a plus for the battery, but, given the reduced body, its capacity is likely to decrease (in Xperia 1 it is 3330mAh).
Otherwise, Xperia 2 also does not particularly advance, although this is what competitors are actively doing now. The same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor is expected instead of the more modern Snapdragon 855+, 6GB of RAM and at least 128GB of internal memory.
Because of this, there are even logical rumors on the network that the new product will be released under the name Xperia 1 Compact instead of the more anticipated Xperia 2. Official details about Xperia 2 will be announced at the Sony presentation on Thursday, September 5.
