When there is less time for the presentation of the new Huawei Mate 30, the company has advanced information regarding the name of its new processor and when it will be the official date for its launch. Yesterday Huawei has launched a first teaser video dedicated to the new SoC Kirin 990.
The manufacturer will present this new component, intended to power most of its latest generation smartphones, on Friday, September 6, 2019, at the IFA, which will be held in Berlin. As a reminder, the show will open from 6 to 11 September.

In the video teaser, the manufacturer has a clear mention of 5G. The component can, therefore, be optimized to work with the Balong 5000 modem, which was the first 5G modem designed by Huawei. Not surprisingly, the Kirin 990 will be included in the Mate X, the 5G folding smartphone, to be released in November 2019.
According to the information that has been made available, system-on-a-chip (SOC) should be compatible with 4K video recording at up to 60 fps. In this way, Kirin is approaching the competition. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 and 855 already feature 4k video recording at 60 fps. Currently, Huawei phones are limited to 4K at 30 fps. Like its predecessors, the component will also have an NPU (neural processor unit) dedicated to artificial intelligence.
Anyway, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be the first smartphones to take advantage of this new SoC. The presentation of the Mate 30 is scheduled for September 19, 2019. We imagine that the alleged P40 and P40 Pro (expected by March 2020) will also be equipped by this Kirin 990.
