Although China’s Oppo officialized the Reno line later this year, the company is already setting the stage for the newest generation of the fin-shaped, exotic retractable camera smartphone family. This week the manufacturer released a teaser highlighting the four new Reno 2 cameras with 20x zoom capability, the highlight was also the release date: on August 28, first in the Indian market.
Also regarding official advertising materials, the company also posted a video on its YouTube page highlighting the device’s video stabilization functionality. Although in an “unlisted” state, you can view the content in a 15-second clip where we see a person running and what would be the next smartphone recording, focusing on the dog.

Turning now to the leaks, we see in the first image below a banner highlighting two new Reno 2 line formats with a total of four models being visible. It reads: “four cameras with 20x zoom” and the motto “see more, see clear”, implying that the new generation will come with improvements to low light photography or more detail in daytime photography.
You can also notice an important detail in the image: the first two models (white and teal) have a different set of cameras: the ceramic O-Dot is now located on top of the smartphone, and then comes the Four cameras. Already the dark blue model the set changes: all four cameras are together in the same module and then we see the ceramic O-Dot and also the presence of the inscription “hybrid zoom” between the first and second sensor. This may indicate two different models for the Reno 2 line.
In yet another leak, a piece of paper displays two Oppo Reno 2 promotional posters. In the thin line in the lower right corner of the images, you can read details about the camera sensors and the “Full-Motion” screen. The handset will come with a combination of 48MP main camera, 13MP telephoto lens camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens camera and 2MP sensor for depth of field data. It is unclear what the hardware of the products.
Maybe the company may be planning to announce Reno 2 as a premium intermediary, but there is also a possibility for the manufacturer to adopt a higher performance chipset like Snapdragon 855+ for the device. Although such details are not yet defined, more information should be coming in the coming days.
