According to Xiaomi Product Director Wang Teng’s latest remarks, Xiaomi’s second 5G smartphone will be part of the Mi 9 series. In his latest statement, Wang suggests it could be the Mi 9 5G or the Mi 9 Pro 5G.
The 5G-ready version of the Mi 9 seems to be getting closer and closer. Leaker Xiaomishka shared on Twitter some information about the new version of the phone. In addition to the capacity for 5G, the new Mi 9 will have several improvements.
According to the report, the Mi 9 5G is far from being a Mi 9 equipped with a 5G modem. First, it would be equipped with a screen offering QHD + definition. A priori, the AMOLED technology should be kept. No information on the size of the slab on the other hand. Then, the camera should be entitled to a small upgrade with the addition of an OIS (optical stabilization) to the main photosensor.
The other major change is the battery. As we know, 5G can have an impact on the autonomy of smartphones (note that the effects of 5G on batteries must still be studied and documented so that we have a really clear idea of its impact). Xiaomi would, therefore, include a larger battery on the Mi 9 5G, without having the exact capacity at the moment.
With its battery of 3300mAh, the autonomy of Mi 9 was perhaps one of its weak points. Finally, the Mi 9 5G would be fast charging compatible 45W, against 27W for the Mi 9 which already offered very good performance in this area.
At the moment there is nothing certain. Little is known about Mi 9 5G, so it is better to wait for more information to be leaked or presented in society, whatever comes before.
