Chuwi’s name is becoming increasingly popular in the field of price-saving laptops. One of the manufacturer’s big points lately is the MiniBook, a super-compact laptop with an 8-inch display. Last month Chuwi started a crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo for their new Chuwi MiniBook 8 inch convertible mini laptop system. With still only 13 days left, the campaign has raised over $597,000 thanks to over 2,100 backers.
The device’s screen features an 8-inch LCD touch panel with 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 16:10 widescreen ratio. Chuwi Minibook features two different processors: the first variant is equipped with an Intel Core M3 8100Y CPU with a 14nm process, 5W TDP with 2 cores and 4 threads, while the second variant features an Intel Celeron N4100 processor with 4 cores and 4 threads. We also find an integrated graphics card: Intel HD 615 for the M3 8100Y version and Intel Core 600 for the Celeron N4100 variant.
Both versions can count on an 8 GB LPDDR3 and LPDDR4 RAM memory and a 128 GB eMMC5.1 internal storage plus an additional SSD expansion slot. The device is designed and built to take advantage of all the available surface, increases the size of the keycaps and has been inserted an optical tactile sensor that has the function of a touchpad. The backlight also allows you to work comfortably even during the night or in low light conditions.
Still, 13 days left in the crowdfunding campaign so if you are a fan of pocket UMPC tiny laptops, you should certainly check out the CHUWI MiniBook. The basic model will set you back $430 and the Core m3 model is $530. Only 13 days left, if you like this tiny 8-inch UMPC laptop, check out it on the INDIEGOGO.
