Samsung has recently presented its new sensor for the 64MP camera and, thanks to a rumor leaked a few hours ago, we already know which smartphone manufacturer will be among the first to use it. This is Redmi: the company has, in fact, published some sample photos on its Weibo profile.
The company born from a rib of Xiaomi has declared that the company is officially entering the era of 64MP and that soon we will present phone with this powerful sensor. The image that we show you below and which has spread the Chinese manufacturer does not specifically reveal to us that it will be Samsung’s stratospheric sensor, but it is highly likely that it is.
The sample reveals a very vivid image of a cat and, curiously, the details seem to be well maintained even after zooming. The specifications on the Redmi terminal that sponsors a 64MP sensor are completely obscure and the identity of the phone remains unknown.
Moreover, another published teasers include first screenshots as well as a screenshot from the MIUI camera app, indicating that the smartphone is already at an advanced stage. When the 64MP smartphone from Redmi will be presented and in which device class it will eventually settle, of course, is still completely unclear.
Of course, such an impressive resolution raises the question of the sensor used, and a strong candidate for this is the ISOCELL Bright GW1 from Samsung, which was introduced in May. The Bright GW1 normally produces 16MP photos by combining four pixels into one pixel.
If necessary, it also delivers real 64MP photos. In addition, it offers a “Quad Bayer color filter” similar to the Sony IMX586 (48MP) to bundle adjacent pixels for a higher sensitivity to light. The Samsung Bright GW1 is already in mass production and is therefore available for Redmi.
In addition to Redmi / Xiaomi, other OEMs like Realme are also working to bring a phone with a 64MP camera into the mobile market, although we do not know when we will actually see these flagships on the market.
