In early June, HMD announced that a Nokia 2.2 smartphone would soon arrive in the US market. Now the handset has been presented with premium features and its cost is $139.
Where the most economical company was in the area of System-on-a-Chip (SoC), which is an extremely modest MediaTek Helio A22. It brings only four high-efficiency cores, while Qualcomm’s latest entry-level chipsets come with eight of its kind colors. This allows for greater performance in the vast majority of applications, which are best optimized for eight-core architectures on mobile devices.
More acceptable are the memory configurations of Nokia’s new entry device, which comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space. It is still expandable using microSD technology with cards up to 400GB capacity. In some markets, an even cheaper version with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory will also be on sale.
One of the highlights of the Nokia 2.2 entry-level market is on its screen, which has 5.71 inches with HD + resolution (720 x 1520 pixels) and a small notch – which upgrades the handset to the most popular design language on the market in 2019.
Its 5MP front camera has support for facial unlocking, but obviously with much less security than in sophisticated systems like the Face ID of the iPhone XS. Furthermore, it is powered by a 3000mAh removable battery.
The Nokia 2.2 comes with Android 9 Pie and is part of the Android One program, which brings pure Android and two years of guaranteed upgrades. Nokia has already confirmed that the small handset will receive the update for Android Q, which will be launched by Google before the end of 2019.
Nokia 2.2 is a GSM phone, so it should work on your local T-Mobile and AT&T bands, along with all their MVNOs. The phone is on the Internet today on Amazon and Best Buy and will come to select physical Best Buy stores August 4.
