The Oneplus 7 pro, a flagship Smartphone from Oneplus and the Redmi Note 7 Pro is a low budget phone from Xiaomi, both use the same Sony IMX586 sensor. But are their cameras really the same? Or does the Snapdragon 855 processor of the Oneplus give it a bump in the image quality? Let’s find out. Note that this article is only about the rear cameras.

The secondary camera had 16MP and is an F/2.2 aperture wide angle lens. It also has a third 8MP camera which has F/2.4 aperture and is a 3x optical zoom lens, which also comes with OIS.

In Day time shots
The overall effect of the Oneplus 7 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro seems to be not particularly large, but in fact, if you look at the color, you can still see a certain difference. If you look closely at the bottom right corner of the photo which taken with a Oneplus 7 Pro is slightly darker in green, and the color of the photo taken by Redmi Note7 Pro is slightly lighter. Because it is a photo taken under strong light, the overall effect is not bad.
In the comparison of other samples, although the results are good, there are still some differences in the details. For example, in terms of the exposure of photos, the one plus 7 Pro is significantly higher, the color of the tiles taken in the photos is more vivid, and the bamboo color is also more vivid on the left side of the photo. The photos taken by Redmi Note 7 are lower overall, the ground color in the photos is darker, and the bamboo is not so bright on the left side of the photo.
If we see in these samples, the outer surface of the building is brighter in the Oneplus 7 Pro sample, while in Redmi Note 7 Pro sample, the outer surface of the building is darker. The difference between these photos is still quite obvious. The photos taken by the Plus 7 Pro are highly visible, so the details inside the building are clear, while the photos taken by the Redmi Note 7 Pro are less exposed, so the details in the door are average.
In Day time Shots with Zoom, the Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 3x zoom lens, hence it captures slightly better details on zoomed in images. The photos taken by Redmi Note 7 Pro is even brighter, while the Oneplus 7 Pro sample is darker. In addition, the color surface of the building is also different. The photo taken by Oneplus 7 Pro is reddish, and Redmi Note 7 Pro is cool.
The Oneplus 7 Pro has a better overall camera, but in most cases, the Redmi is similar to the Oneplus. If you have money to spend and are looking for an overall better phone, then I will recommend the Oneplus 7 Pro. But if the camera is the only thing you care about and want to save some money then I do recommend the Redmi Note 7 pro.
