Everyone stated that 2018 was a great year for smartphones, but considering the models that will be launched in 2019, it seems that it will be even better. Mobile phone providers have shown the intention to develop a new generation of smartphones, sleeker and with more features than ever. Smartphones come packed with more capabilities than ever, and while some of them are new on the market, others have the role to improve what’s come before. Here is what we know so far on the smartphones that will get people talking in 2019.

Next Apple iPhone
Apple prefers the month September to release new phones, and in 2019 everyone expects to see the successors of iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. Information based on the leaked CAD data show that the next models of iPhone XS and XS Max are expected to come with three back cameras, and the 2019 version of iPhone XR will come with two back cameras.
Except for the number of cameras, Apple is not expected to bring new changes in 2019. They probably intend to launch phones with the same size-screens, similar bezel size, and same split of LCD and OLED tech. But some rumors state that they intend to use frosted glass on the back of some models, so if they will not do it in 2019, they will probably do it somewhere in the near future.
Bloomberg reports that the 2019-iPhone models will not feature 5G network support, so if there are users interested in this characteristic, Apple may not be the phone manufacturer they are looking for. Rumors also state that iPhone XS will have a 4,000Ah battery, that’s huge. They may seem only rumors at this point, but let’s keep in mind that Apple rumors never disappoint and most of the leaks proved to be true in the past.
OnePlus: OnePlus 7 and 7 PRO
OnePlus made it official, they are planning to launch new models, and the OnePlus 7 PRO will also come in a 5G-enabled variant. The OnePlus 7 PRO will be released in the UK on the 21st of May, and it will be found on sale starting with £649. It’s expected to be the most premium OnePlus model at the present. The reviewers who already got their hands on the model state that it’s worth to upgrade to the premium model. It will come with a pop-up selfie cam, which means that the face is nearly all screen. It will also have a 6.67in Quad HD screen, enormous right? with a 90Hz refresh rate. But these are not all the features the 7PRO will come with, it will also pack a 4,000Ah battery cell, Snapdragon 855 chip, and a stellar triple-camera setup.
The standard OnePlus 7 will be launched in June and it’s expected to be identical with the OnePlus 6T. It will have the same water drop notch design. The difference will be in the camera setup and in the chipset, it will have the Snapdragon 855.
Samsung: Galaxy Fold
With this model, Samsung decided to be adventurous again. The device looks like two flagship phones stacked atop each other. It will have a 4.6in display on the outside, but once the phone is folded open, it will become a 7.3in tablet.
The apps seamlessly transfer from one screen to another depending on the way the user keeps the phone. Its design is not the only one that impresses users, it also comes with top-end tech, 512 GB of onboard memory, 7nm processor, 4,380mAh and 12GB RAM. The smartphone is designed to be compatible with most of the apps available in the store. Actually, almost all smartphones expected to be released in 2019 are compatible with countless apps.
Now that IT companies have the option of software outsourcing when creating systems, smartphone users have access to millions of apps they can choose from. Because they no longer have to hire their own team to build software, they have time and resources to design innovative products and to analyze the needs of the users. When we check the price, we can only say that it’s as wild as the phone, we will find it in stores starting at £1,799. This price is for the LTE model, the 5G edition will be pricier. It is expected to be released on 13 June in the States.
Huawei – Mate X
Mate X was shown in February at MWC, it’s also a foldable phone but it comes with features different than the ones of Samsung. It will not have a second screen hidden inside the fold; it will come with an extra-large 8in display, wrapped around the outside.
This means that you will have two screens, one on the front and one on the back. When you will conjoin the screen, you will fully unfold it. The benefit is that you will have a slimmer-looking phone, but this feature can also prove a drawback because you can easily scratch it. It offers the impression of a flimsier feel than the Galaxy Fold. It’s expected Mate X to be released in the first half of the year, but it will not be as affordable as people would expect. It will cost around £1970.
Google – Pixel 4
Rumors state that Google has inspired from Samsung when it started to design Pixel 4XL. It will feature a wide punch-hole notch like Galaxy S10+, and it will be created to accommodate two front cameras, two back cameras, and the same Pixel styling. Pixel 4 will probably stick to one camera on the front and one on the back.
This model seems the most polished one Google has launched until now. It may be a sign that they have understood that users are not happy with the previous designs that have fallen short in key ways. Pixel 4 will make its debut in October and it’s expected to find out more pieces of information in the months to come.
