At the end of April Xiaomi had published on the Weibo social network the image of a mysterious smartphone with a pop-up front camera. Yesterday the Chinese producer confirmed that it is Redmi K20. The letter K in the name means “Killer”, so the new smartphone will be a “Flagship Killer”, or a high-end model. However, it is not clear when the announcement will take place. On May 20, the Redmi Note 7S with a 48MP rear camera will be presented.
Lu Weibing, President of Redmi (the brand was separated from Xiaomi), has already confirmed that the smartphone will integrate the Snapdragon 855 processor and will have a 3.5mm audio jack. The manager also added that the Redmi K20 will offer excellent performance, high autonomy, and good cameras. The front one will be hidden in the upper edge, as in the OnePlus 7 Pro so the screen will not have notches or holes.
According to the latest rumors, the hardware equipment should also include a 6.39 inch display with full HD + resolution, up to 8GB of RAM , up to 256GB of storage, 20MP front camera, three rear cameras of 48, 13 and 8 megapixels (standard lenses, wide-angle and telephoto), in-display fingerprint reader and 4000mAh battery. The operating system will certainly be Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 interface.
The imminent debut of the Redmi K20 has been announced through the publication of a post in which the top of the range of OnePlus is mentioned. According to Xiaomi, OnePlus has “lost its way”, as a true “Flagship Killer” should be accessible to everyone. The OnePlus 7 Pro has a rather high price. The Redmi K20 will, therefore, have a significantly lower price.
