Google has just confirmed that Android Q will indeed be Android 10, and has listed a series of news that will come with this new version of the robot. Without too much delay, we immediately see a quick list of what lies ahead.
Dark theme:
- Google said it without half words, is designed to save battery on AMOLED screens, and for anyone who prefers a dark theme. It is activated with a special toggle or in conjunction with energy saving.
Live Captions:
- Automatically generated subtitles. They will work on any app, even on videos recorded by you.
Enhanced Smart Reply:
- They will also suggest which app to open (eg Maps, in the case of an address)
New navigation gestures:
- In particular, to go back, doing without the dedicated button. Through swipe gesture from the sides, we can in fact go back and forth in the various apps, in a way similar to what we have already seen, for example, on EMUI. In beta 3 this gesture prevents the execution of other side gestures, for example, those to call up the menu of many apps, such as Gmail, Maps and many others.
Focus mode:
- You decide which apps can and cannot interrupt you, in this sort of further personalized version of the do not disturb, dedicated to when you want to focus on a certain task.
Support for flexible displays:
- We already knew this, but Google wanted to reiterate, perhaps because of the problems of Galaxy Fold, that many Android manufacturers will launch smartphones with flexible screens this year. And on the stage 3 form factors have been shown: that of Samsung, that of Huawei Mate X and that of Motorola (just to understand each other).
Parental controls:
- Daily limits for each app, times for going to bed, and checks of which apps are mostly used by their children.
Encryption on low-end devices:
- Thus making entry levels safer, although we reserve the right to judge the performance factor.
Part of these new features will already be present in the third beta, which will be released in a few hours, and not only on Pixels but also on the following smartphones:
Asus ZenFone 5Z, Essential PH-1, HMD Global Nokia 8.1, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, LG G8 ThinQ, OnePlus 6T, Oppo Reno, Realme 3 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ3, Tecno Spark 3Pro, Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, Vivo NEX A, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, Xiaomi Mi 9. For the download, you can refer to the official website.
