Chuwi is renowned to be a manufacturer of classy and affordable tablets, 2-in-1 hybrids, laptops, and other categories of gadgets and electronics. The company has a new product scheduled for release soon. The Chuwi UBook, a beautifully designed 2-in-1 tablet PC, brings features from some of the world’s leading hybrid laptops into a compact body accompanied by a great selection of ports, good innards, and up to 1 Terabytes of storage which Chuwi intends to sell for a pretty decent price.
Design and Build
Design-wise, the Chuwi UBook takes inspiration from Microsoft’s Surface Go and the HP Spectre X2. With an aluminum alloy coating on the rear, the device looks premium, well put-together and sturdy. And at only 9mm thickness level, Chuwi managed to fit in a variety of ports on the sides of the tablet PC. On the right-hand side, there is a micro-HDMI port, USB-C port, a full-size USB-A3.1 port, and the DC power jack. On the left side there is a second USB-A 3.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. At the bottom (when held horizontally), there is a magnetic connector which the keyboard attaches to.
The keyboard is easy to fix and detach. Interestingly, it is backlit, comes with a trackpad as well as spill-resistant coating. Still on the side is a built-in U-shaped kickstand which allows users swiftly switch the Chuwi UBook to any position for work, entertainment, transit or travel use. The kickstand is also sturdily built and supports up to 145° inclination.
Display
The Chuwi UBook comes with an 11.6-inch IPS display panel with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolution in 16:9 aspect ratio. The display will perform great; providing brilliant colors and an impressive visual experience generally. But what’s even more exciting about the display is its support for a stylus pen.
The Pen allows for efficient writing, sketching, drawing, coloring, painting, and note-taking. For the price the Chuwi UBook sells for, the pen is a great addition. Still about the pen; it supports 1024 pressure level.
Processor and Storage
The Chuwi UBook is powered by Intel’s Core M3-6Y30 processor which boast of a clock frequency of 2.2GHz for robust and glitch-free performance. Regarding graphics, Intel’s Integrated HD graphics unit is in charge, with the ability to decode 4K videos. Chuwi also claims that despite the ‘strong’ and nippy performance of the UBook, the processors will run efficiently without fan noise.
In terms of memory, the UBook is laced with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM for fluid multitasking and running of programs and applications. Storage-wise, the Chuwi UBook can be customized to feature up to 1TB of SSD storage. This makes the Chuwi Book the tablet with the largest storage capacity after Apple’s iPad Pro. Nonetheless, the UBook has the largest internal storage configuration of any Windows-powered tablet. The device comes out-of-the-box running the Windows 10 operating system.
