The Xiaomi Mi 9 has been updated at home to MIUI 10.9.3.27 – weighing 397 MB – which introduces support for DC Dimming, a basic feature already present on the new top of the range. But what is it and why is it so important to have an update dedicated exclusively to it?
DC Dimming technology is a feature that is becoming increasingly popular on smartphones equipped with OLED panels (such as the Black Shark 2, for example) and allows you to reduce the temperature of the display, benefiting from a lower eye strain.
The feature was already present on the Xiaomi Mi 9 but it was necessary to wait for the dedicated update before seeing it actually operational. But how does DC Dimming work? The principle is to adjust the brightness of the panel by increasing or decreasing the amount of electric current that passes through the display itself.
With a lower amount of current, you will have a lower brightness, with consequent benefits for the eyes when using the smartphone in low light. At the moment it seems that this novelty is present only through the software update, so all that remains is to wait for the Global counterpart of the firmware in question.
