The design of a camera with a hole in a smartphone screen is becoming a trend. A number of smartphone vendors also carry the design of camera holes on their mobile screens. Samsung became the first smartphone to carry a punch-hole camera. The first smartphone to use the punch-hole camera is the Galaxy A8s. In the future, Samsung Galaxy S10 will adopt similar features. Besides Samsung, now Oppo will carry the camera hole design for its latest smartphone.
Quoted from Phone Arena, Oppo has filed a patent on the on-screen camera hole for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The Oppo patent application titled “Mobile phone with app icon interface” and the diagram shows the latest Oppo smartphone with a hole in the screen as a selfie camera container. In the patent, the camera hole is placed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Based on the patent file, the camera menu icon will cover the camera hole on the display. Simply tap the camera icon once, then the camera menu will open automatically. To exit the camera application, just swipe right. Other archives mention that there are five application icons at the top of the phone screen, including a camera application that covers the punch hole. Shifting the application allows other application icons to appear.
However, the camera application always stays in the same place. The camera application will open if the camera icon is clicked or click on another application at the top of the screen. The first Oppo smartphone with a camera hole will be launched next month during the 2019 MWC in Barcelona, Spain. Unfortunately, not mentioned the detailed specifications, names, and prices of this mysterious Smartphone. Phone Arena suspects that this new Oppo cellphone is Oppo F19 and Oppo F19 Pro.
