A couple of days back, Xiaomi launched its affordable Redmi Note 7 with a massive 48MP back camera. While the official announcement covered major highlights, it missed an important upgrade. The Redmi Note 7 has water-sealed ports and buttons, which has revealed by the CEO, Lei Jun recently.
To this end, today a TikTok user did a waterproof test at the Beijing Xiaomi House. As shown in the figure, after the Redmi Note 7 is soaked in water, it is still intact. Product director of Xiaomi Wang Teng says the waterproof level is not so high, and such experiments are discouraged.
According to the official introduction, the R&D team made a waterproof design for Redmi Note 7, which is effective against dust and splash. Specifically, it includes I/O port seal design, the waterproof device (buttons, USB), speaker double-layer dust-proof net design, independent earpiece decoration, and front-mounted sealing rubber sleeve.
Not only that, Redmi Note 7 also uses Corning’s 5th-gene gorilla glass, which has a four-fold increase in resistance to falling. The founder and CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun say that the 5th-gene gorilla glass used by Redmi Note 7 is a product that is not allowed to be used by the flagship of $150 to $250.
According to the official, Redmi Note 7 adopts the same quality standards as Xiaomi’s flagship Smartphone, and checks and increases the quality of investment. It has successfully upgraded the long-term comprehensive normal usage rate of the past 12 months to 18 months and has the same quality level.
