The company Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone with the working title Xiaomi Play, which can replace the Pocophone F1. The mobile phone has already been tested by the TENAA regulator, and this is always a sure sign that the announcement is just around the corner.
On the renderers proposed by TENAA, the Xiaomi Mi Play smartphone is captured only from the rear – it is not possible to evaluate its front side. But it is already clear that no one is going to embed a fingerprint scanner into the screen – it fits perfectly into the back panel. Apparently, there will not be a round hole for the camera in the display either, so it’s not at all clear why this Mi Play is needed.
According to TENAA, Xiaomi Mi Play will receive a screen with a diagonal of 5.84 inches with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and a platform with an eight-core 2.3 GHz CPU. Xiaomi Mi Play memory configuration options will be at least three – 4/64, 6/64 and 6/128GB. The main camera will receive modules with a resolution of 12MP and 8MP and the front resolution will be 8MP. Also known is the capacity of the battery – 2900mAh, which is not too much and corresponds to the positioning of the novelty, at least judging by the name. Dimensions and weight of Xiaomi Mi Play are 147.76×71.89×7.8 mm and 150 grams.
Out of the box, Xiaomi Mi Play will be running the old version of the Android 8.1 Oreo OS with the proprietary MIUI add-on, but there is no doubt about the release of a firmware update to Android 9.0, and in the future to Android 10.0. Alas, there is no data on the cost of Xiaomi Mi Play yet, but you can fully rely on affordable prices at the level of Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite.
The model, despite the name, is definitely not a game, after all, 2 generations of the Black Shark smartphone are quite successfully sold, and Xiaomi has absolutely no need to create additional difficulties. The Xiaomi Play filling is all covered with mystery, in a word, this is a dark horse, to which so far there are so many questions. However, be that as it may, the mobile phone is unlikely to be the new flagship, and there certainly won’t be a Qualcomm 855 processor in it – the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be released on this platform only in the spring of the coming year.
