A month ago, Qualcomm has released the mid-range Soc at the Hong Kong Summit which was Snapdragon 675. In addition to its core replacement of the Cortex-A76’s Kyro 460 core, the company also said it used to own the 3rd-generation AI engine. Recently, the AI Benchmark score of Snapdragon 675 was unveiled, and the theoretical AI performance was higher than that of the Huawei Kirin 970, which was lower than the Snapdragon 845.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC is still a large and small core design, 2 large core + 6 small core architecture, large nuclear architecture upgraded from the previous Cortex-A75-based Kyro 360 to Cortex-A76-based Kyro 460, frequency is still 2GHz, 6 small core is also based on the Cortex-A55’s Kyro 460 architecture with a frequency boost of 1.8GHz. The 11nm LPP process used in Snapdragon 675.
Qualcomm did not disclose the specific information of the Snapdragon 675 NPU module, only knowing that it is the 3rd generation AI engine of Qualcomm. On the AI Benchmark, there was the score called Qualcomm Talos Dev Platform with a score of 10125, which is lower than the 12340 points of the Snapdragon 845 and higher than the 8910 points of the Huawei Kirin 970.
As for why the Qualcomm Talos Dev Platform is the Snapdragon 675 because the core design was previously queried on GeekBench, the reference frequency is 1.71 GHz, which is consistent with the previous information. Mobile phones equipped with Snapdragon 675 Soc will be available in the first quarter of 2019.
