GF Securities Hong Kong has published a report on the analysis of the mobile phone industry chain in Greater China, directly exposing Samsung and Huawei folding screen phones. We can learn some parameters of Huawei’s new phone.
Huawei’s product uses BOE’s AMOLED screen. The folding method is eversion. When it is in the mobile phone state, it uses half of the screen to work. When it is deployed, it uses all the screen areas. In this regard, Huawei and Samsung have different solutions.
The recently released Huawei Mate 20 Pro uses BOE’s 2K OLED screen and implements the function of the screen fingerprint. It seems that BOE, as a domestic panel maker, can now take on an important task, and the order to get Huawei’s folding screen is also a manifestation of its strength.
In terms of 5G, Huawei deeply participated in the standard-setting process and launched the Barong 5G baseband. Due to the current technical limitations, like the Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Samsung solutions, the Baron 5G baseband is still a stand-alone chip and cannot be integrated into the SoC.
Not surprisingly, Huawei’s 5G folding screen phone should also use the external baseband to achieve 5G function, the processor is a high probability is Kirin 980, after all, it is Huawei’s most handy mobile phone chip.
