Companies such as Samsung and Huawei were struggling to see who would arrive first in the race for a foldable smartphone, but a third company arrived earlier. This is the Chinese Royole Corporation, which today introduced a functional version of FlexPai, a smartphone/tablet that can be folded in half without any problem.
In addition to being the first handset of its kind in the world, it is also the first to use the Snapdragon 8150, the successor to the Snapdragon 845 and Qualcomm’s latest offering for high-end smartphones. The FlexPai has an AMOLED screen of 7.8 inches with a resolution of 1920×1440 pixels and only 7.6 mm of thickness.
It has two 20MP (telephoto) and 16MP (wide-angle) cameras with f / 1.8 aperture and can capture self-portraits and photos of other objects normally. Royole ensures that the new smartphone’s rapid recharge system fills 80% of the 3800mAh battery in 1 hour connected to the wall outlet.
The Royole FlexPai starts shipping in China tomorrow, November 1st and at unbeatable prices: the model of 6GB + 128GB goes for 8999 yuan (about $1290); the 8GB + 256GB version costs 9999 yuan (over $1433) and the 8GB + 512GB edition will sell for 12999 yuan (approximately $1863).
