Samsung has recently registered the Infinity-V brand: this could be the name identifying the technology used for the display of the next flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S10 family.
Last October 26th the South Korean giant presented the registration request to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO)of the ” Samsung Infinity-V ” brand. Samsung Electronics’ request was included in the “09 classification”, which refers to “smartphones and displays for smartphones”. It remains to be seen whether this new Infinity-V display will debut onboard the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 + or if it will be a prerogative of the Galaxy F. foldable smartphone.
The name “Infinity Display” was used for the first time by Samsung last year with the models of the Galaxy S8 series, to be then revived and declined similarly again this year with the Galaxy S9 models.
As is well known, Samsung intends to introduce an important renewal in terms of design with Galaxy S10. Apparently, all the sensors, including the camera, should be integrated under the display, so the frames can be further reduced, making it possible to create a truly full-screen smartphone. Galaxy S10 should also be Samsung’s first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor below the display. Such a change would represent a real breakthrough for Samsung and the entire mobile sector.
Samsung Galaxy S10, in its various forms, will be officially unveiled in Q1 2019. Until then, more details will emerge about this new Infinity-V display. As said, in fact, this technology could very well have nothing to do with Galaxy S10 and be rather implemented in the awaited folding smartphone, that Galaxy F (or Galaxy X) that the Korean manufacturer could show for the first time in a few days in course of the Samsung Developers Conference in Moscow. The “V”, in essence, could be evocative of the shape of the device.
