Last week Xiaomi Mi 8 spreads some rumors that it will soon get the Android 9 Pie beta update. Not long after those rumors, the Android 9 Pie update was released as a beta version in China for the Xiaomi Mi 8. The MIUI 10 8.9.6 Beta version of the Android 9 Pie update for Mi 8 will be able to update those who have previously used MIUI 10 Beta via OTA.
The update, which is housed in the new version of Android, covers 2.1GB. So if you follow the above criteria and you get the update, be absolutely sure that you are connected to the WiFi network. Also, remember that your charge must be at least 50% before performing the update.
