Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong confirmed that Huawei’s Kirin 980 top chip will be released on August 31, but some features of this chip have been exposed on the Internet. From the exposure spaces, Kirin 980 uses 7nm process technology, has four Cortex-A77 cores, clocked at 2.8GHz, and four Cortex-A55 small cores. From the perspective of CPU architecture and manufacturing process, its performance is very worth looking forward to.
The GPU has always been a short board of the Kirin processor. However, on the Kirin 980, Huawei actually adopted the Mali-G72MP24 GPU. The 24-core graphics processor doubled directly compared with the previous generation, and the performance improvement was amazing. In comparison, the Kirin 970’s Mali-G72 MP12 has only 12 cores, and GPU performance is difficult to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The overall performance has been improved by 1.4 times compared with the previous generation Mali-G71. It is believed that it will bring more excellent graphics processing capabilities to Kirin 980.
A few days ago, Huawei has issued an invitation to announce that the Kirin 980 processor will be officially unveiled at the IFA on August 31st, the world’s first commercial 7nm SoC. The Huawei Mate 20 series will be the first model of the processor and is expected to be released in October.
