The two titans clash again, and they have brought their new champions into the arena. Following, we are going to do an in-depth review of both iPhone X and Samsung Note 8 to see which one the deserving winner is

Design

Samsung (standing at 6.4” tall) improved on their Infinity Edge design. The phone features glass built and feels comfortable in hand. The built quality is exceptional. The only issue we had is with the placement of Fingerprint sensor Putting it right next to the main camera was a bad call.

iPhone X (standing at 5.8” tall) breaks the barrier of $1,000 smartphone and other brands will follow soon. But we want to say that the new flagship has the “best-built quality” period. Sure, the Note 8 feels premium, but it lags behind as iPhone X takes you to another level of craftsmanship.

Display

Samsung (2960×1440 with 521 PPI) has been using OLED for a while, leverage over Apple (2436×1440 with 458 PPI), who still uses LCDs. The iPhone X (5.8”) has dramatically improved over past generations with better contrast, color, brightness, and balance to match ambient light.

Samsung (6.3”) gets a tough win with better screen real estate and curved edge to edge Infinity Display.

Camera

Its about time Samsung hopped on the Dual Rear Cameras trend. The Note 8 supports 12-megapixel wide-angle cameras with f/1.7 aperture accompanied by another 12-megapixel telephone lens with f/2.4 aperture. Dual capture feature is great for close-up and wide-angle shots.

The iPhone X also has dual 12-megapixel lenses with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture respective. The portrait mode is improved with new lighting effects. The front camera is 7-megapixel. Now, both phones are great, but iPhone takes the win thanks to its depth and contrast with realistic rendering as compared to Samsung.

Performance

Apple (A11 Bionic Chip Hexacore) blows away Samsung! The hexacore A11 bionic chip is a powerhouse which can transcode a 2-minute video in 42 seconds while Samsung (Exynos 8895 octa-core) needs 3 minutes. Apart from editing, we also ran some benchmark test.

Running Geekbench 4, Apple takes the lead once again with 10,357 end score while Note 8 only managed to score 6,564. We also did a 3DMark Icestorm unlimited Test to see their graphics prowess. iPhone X outperformed Note 8 with staggeringly 59% more juice.

Battery Life

Both phones boast good battery life. They will outlast your average smartphone, but we did our stress tests to find out which one takes the lead. The Note 8 (3300 mAH) wins this round by lasting 11 Hours and 11 minutes while iPhone X (2716 mAH) stretched 10 hours and 49 minutes.

The bigger battery wins Samsung this round.  Both of these phones support fast and wireless charging.

Verdict

So, who won our battle between Samsung Note 8 Vs. iPhone X? Its clear that iPhone X outperforms Note 8 in many areas, but the Korean titan also has some clever tricks up its sleeve. It also boils down to your preference. Are you an android geek or iOS devotee? Do you want finesses or raw power? Do you want simple user experience with help at every corner or the ability to customize everything with total control?
