With the announcement of support for ARM platforms on Windows 10 in partnership with Qualcomm and it’s Snapdragon 835, the ambitions of SoC designer on the computer market have been revealed.
All is still quite recent, and we will have to wait a few more months to establish its strategy. That said, we already have the first vision thanks to Roland Quandt: after having unveiled the Snapdragon 850 before the hour, it is the turn of the Snapdragon 1000 to point the tip of his nose.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 1000: a SoC with a TDP of 6.5W
According to his information, the manufacturer would be creating a new SoC with a TDP CPU of 6.5 watts. For comparison, the current generation of Snapdragon 8 Series would run around 5W, although an official measure is not provided.

This one would be in design since last year, and would be scheduled for an output around the end of 2018 / early 2019. The idea would be to compete directly with Intel Y SoC used on entry-level ultrabooks, with a new SoC ARM more powerful than its mobile version but does not need to be actively cooled.
Asus would be the first partner
That’s not all: a manufacturer would already be in the running to use it in a product. The Taiwanese brand would play now with a reference design to design a device called “Primus”. The development of this new computer is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018 according to internal documents. It could be a very thin 2-in-1 computer or tablet.
We will have to wait for more information to discover the plans of Qualcomm, but one thing is sure: if the name Snapdragon 1000 is not definitive, Roland Quandt is sure and certain of the existence of this new SoC. Intel just has to stand.
Unfortunately, for now, we do not have any detail or technical features allusive to the new Snapdragon 1000. We do not know what it will bring us in terms of performance, it is expected that it will naturally outperform Snapdragon 845, the top-of-the-line.
